Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving a site’s rankings in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).

For example, a website offering landscaping services might have a SEO goal to rank #1 in Google’s SERPs for the keyword “lanscaping services”. Traffic coming from SERPs is referred to as natural or organic traffic (versus traffic derived from Pay-Per-Click or other forms of advertising).

SEO is no longer as simple as putting keywords in a website’s text or even getting a large volume of websites to link back to the target website. SEO requires specialized expertise and business analysis on a site-by-site basis. SEO is a rapidly changing disipline requiring us to constantly monitor the industry landscape as well as the sites we’re SEOing.

Sites which are properly SEOed reap huge rewards in the form of high volume, targeted traffic resulting in growth of their business.
